On Palm Sunday, the crowds were shouting.
“Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord!” (Matthew 21:9, KJV)
They laid their garments on the road. They waved palm branches. They rejoiced as Jesus entered Jerusalem like a king.
But within days, those same voices—or at least many of them—were silent. Or worse, they were shouting something else:
“Crucify him!”
The contrast is striking. Celebration turns to crucifixion. Joy gives way to injustice. But none of it took Jesus by surprise.
He rode into Jerusalem knowing what waited at the end of that road. He knew the cheers would fade. He knew the cross was coming. And still, He went.
The Courage of Christ
Palm Sunday is not just about praise—it’s about purpose. Jesus didn’t come to be applauded. He came to save. And that meant surrender. Suffering. Sacrifice.
He didn’t flinch. He didn’t run. He rode straight into what awaited Him.
That’s the King we follow.
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2, KJV)
A Challenge for Us
Palm Sunday reminds us that following Jesus means more than waving palm branches. It means trusting Him when the crowds turn and the road gets hard. It means holding onto faith even when things don’t go the way we expected.
Jesus didn’t just die for us. He showed us how to live—faithfully, sacrificially, and with eyes fixed on something greater.
As we enter Holy Week, may we remember:
- He knew what was coming.
- He chose the cross.
- He did it for us.
Let that sink in.
Let that steady your heart.
And let that stir your soul to worship—not just with palm branches, but with your life.
Hosanna. Not just on Sunday, but every day.
The King has come. And the King is coming again.
