How to Handle Conflict According to the Bible: 10 Verses You Should Know (and Follow)

Christians should be examples to the rest of the world on how to properly handle conflicts and disagreements. Sadly, most Christians are not.

If you want to handle conflict and disagreement in a God-honoring way, you need to know (and follow) these ten (10) Bible verses:

  • You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord. -Leviticus 19:18
  • Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. -Psalm 34:14
  • Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. – Philippians 4:5
  • Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering. – Colossians 3:12
  • Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. – Galatians 6:1
  • And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient. – 2 Timothy 2:24
  • With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love. – Ephesians 4:2
  • Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. – Romans 14:19
  • To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. – Titus 3:2
  • But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. – 1 Timothy 6:11

Obviously, there are many more. I’m just scratching the surface. But the above verses are a great start.

I certainly encourage you to read the verses surrounding the preceding verses, so you can understand the context.

The better we practice the principles in the preceding ten verses, the better off we’ll be–and the better off our churches will be.

And the better off our world will be.
